Cisco IOS 12.2 and 12.4, when NAT Skinny Call Control Protocol (SCCP) Fragmentation Support is enabled, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (device reload) via segmented SCCP messages, aka Cisco Bug ID CSCsi17020, a different vulnerability than CVE-2008-3810.

The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 43148 (Cisco IOS NAT Skinny Call Control Protocol (cisco-sa-20080924-sccp)).
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 5129.
