Cisco IOS 12.4, when IOS firewall Application Inspection Control (AIC) with HTTP Deep Packet Inspection is enabled, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (device reload) via a malformed HTTP transit packet.
The bug was discovered 09/24/2008. The weakness was presented 09/26/2008 with Cisco (Website). The advisory is shared at cisco.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2008-3812 since 08/27/2008. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
