Opera before 9.52 on Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris, when processing custom shortcut and menu commands, can produce argument strings that contain uninitialized memory, which might allow user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or conduct other attacks via vectors related to activation of a shortcut.

The bug was discovered 08/20/2008. The weakness was published 09/27/2008 by Michael A. Puls II (Website). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-4197 since 09/23/2008. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
