A vulnerability has been found in CA Business Protection Suite up to R2 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code in the library asdbapi.dll. Unspecified vulnerability in the tape engine service in asdbapi.dll in CA ARCserve Backup (formerly BrightStor ARCserve Backup) r11.1 through r12.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a crafted request.
The bug was discovered 10/09/2008. The weakness was disclosed 10/14/2008 by eEye Digital Security with eEye Digital Security (Website). The advisory is available at support.ca.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2008-4398 since 10/02/2008. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
