A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in WordPress 3.3 (Content Management System). This issue affects the function wp_guess_url of the file wp-includes/functions.php. The manipulation of the argument $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'] with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-79. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in wp-comments-post.php in WordPress 3.3.x before 3.3.1, when Internet Explorer is used, allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the query string in a POST operation that is not properly handled by the "Duplicate comment detected" feature.
The weakness was released 01/02/2012 by Amir (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at oldmanlab.blogspot.com. The vendor was not involved in the public release. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-0287 since 01/03/2012. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely.
