A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Mozilla Firefox (Web Browser) (affected version not known). This vulnerability affects the function Drag/Drop of the component HTML5 Engine. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a html injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was published 12/31/2011 as MS11-100 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at technet.microsoft.com. The vendor was not involved in the coordination of the public release. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
