A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in xine xine-lib (Multimedia Player Software) (affected version unknown). This affects an unknown functionality of the file demux_qt.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. demux_qt.c in xine-lib 1.1.12, and other 1.1.15 and earlier versions, does not validate the count field before calling calloc for STSD_ATOM atom allocation, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted media file.
