Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 does not log requests that use the TRACK method, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information without detection.
The bug was discovered 01/02/2003. The weakness was shared 12/28/2003 by Parcifal Aertssen with AQTRONIX (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at aqtronix.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2003-1566 since 01/14/2009. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 2809.
