A vulnerability was found in VUPlayer and classified as very critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the file pls. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Buffer overflow in VUPlayer 2.49 and earlier allows user-assisted attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long URL in a File line in a .pls file, as demonstrated by an http URL on a File1 line.
The bug was discovered 01/07/2009. The weakness was presented 01/20/2009 by Greg Linares (Expanders) (Website). The advisory is shared for download at milw0rm.com.
