A vulnerability was found in Apple QuickTime (Multimedia Player Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function. Heap-based buffer overflow in Apple QuickTime before 7.6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application termination) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted RTSP URL.
The bug was discovered 01/21/2009. The weakness was disclosed 01/21/2009 by Attila Suszter (Website). The advisory is shared at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2009-0001 since 12/15/2008. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
