A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Moodle (Learning Management Software). This vulnerability affects the function hotpot_delete_selected_attempts of the file report.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in the hotpot_delete_selected_attempts function in report.php in the HotPot module in Moodle 1.6 before 1.6.7, 1.7 before 1.7.5, 1.8 before 1.8.6, and 1.9 before 1.9.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via a crafted selected attempt.
The weakness was disclosed 02/12/2009 (Website). The advisory is available at moodle.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2008-6124 since 02/12/2009. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
