moziloCMS up to 1.10.2 download.php page path traversal

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in moziloCMS. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the file download.php. The manipulation of the argument page with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in moziloCMS 1.10.2 and earlier allow remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the (1) file parameter to download.php and the (2) page parameter to index.php, a different vector than CVE-2008-3589.

The weakness was disclosed 02/13/2009 by David Vieira-Kurz (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2008-6126 since 02/13/2009. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.

It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as highly functional. By approaching the search of inurl:download.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (45524), Exploit-DB (8394), SecurityFocus (BID 31495†) and Secunia (SA32021†). The entries VDB-46539, VDB-46538, VDB-47868 and VDB-47867 are pretty similar. Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
