Google Chrome before 17.0.963.65 does not properly perform a cast of an unspecified variable during handling of line boxes, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unknown other impact via a crafted document.
The weakness was disclosed 03/04/2012 by Chamal De Silva (miaubiz) with Google as 113258 (Website). The advisory is shared at code.google.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with Google. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-3036 since 08/09/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
