Google Chrome before 17.0.963.65 does not properly perform casts of unspecified variables during the splitting of anonymous blocks, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unknown other impact via a crafted document.
The weakness was presented 03/04/2012 by Chamal De Silva (miaubiz) with Google as 113439 (Website). The advisory is available at code.google.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2011-3037 since 08/09/2011. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. Upgrading to version 17.0.963.65 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at chrome.google.com. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at trac.webkit.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
