As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Unspecified vulnerability in the OPMN component in Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.3 allows remote attackers to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability via unknown vectors. NOTE: the previous information was obtained from the April 2009 CPU. Oracle has not commented on reliable researcher claims that this issue is a format string vulnerability that allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via format string specifiers in an HTTP POST URI, which are not properly handled when logging to opmn/logs/opmn.log.
The bug was discovered 04/14/2009. The weakness was released 04/15/2009 by Esteban Martinez Fayo (iDefense) with Application Security, Inc. (Website). The advisory is available at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-0993 since 03/19/2009. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
A public exploit has been developed in Python. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
