Multiple cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerabilities in the web administration console in Apache Geronimo Application Server 2.1 through 2.1.3 allow remote attackers to hijack the authentication of administrators for requests that (1) change the web administration password, (2) upload applications, and perform unspecified other administrative actions, as demonstrated by (3) a Shutdown request to console/portal//Server/Shutdown.
The weakness was released 04/17/2009 by DiGiT with Digital Security Research Group (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2009-0039 since 12/15/2008. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
