A vulnerability was found in Poppler up to 0.0 (Document Reader Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function SplashBitmap::SplashBitmap of the file SplashBitmap.cc. Integer overflow in the JBIG2 decoding feature in the SplashBitmap::SplashBitmap function in SplashBitmap.cc in Xpdf 3.x before 3.02pl4 and Poppler before 0.10.6, as used in GPdf and kdegraphics KPDF, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted PDF document.
The weakness was shared 04/23/2009 by Braden Thomas as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2009-1188 since 03/31/2009. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
