A vulnerability has been found in IBM Tivoli Endpoint Manager up to 8.x (Directory Service Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Web Reports. The manipulation of the argument ScheduleParam with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in IBM Tivoli Endpoint Manager (TEM) 8 before 8.2 patch 3 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the ScheduleParam parameter to the webreports program.
The weakness was presented 03/14/2012 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at www-01.ibm.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-0719 since 01/17/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

Upgrading to version TEM8.2 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch TEM8.2 patch 3 (Q1 2012) is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be patching the affected component. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 12594.
