Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in ATEN KH1516i IP KVM switch 1.0.063. This vulnerability affects an unknown functionality of the component Firmware. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cryptographic issue vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-310. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

The (1) Windows and (2) Java client programs for the ATEN KH1516i IP KVM switch with firmware 1.0.063 and the KN9116 IP KVM switch with firmware 1.1.104 do not properly use RSA cryptography for a symmetric session-key negotiation, which makes it easier for remote attackers to (a) decrypt network traffic, or (b) conduct man-in-the-middle attacks, by repeating unspecified "client-side calculations."

The weakness was disclosed 05/27/2009 by Jakob Lell (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-1473 since 04/28/2009. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1600 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (50849), SecurityFocus (BID 35108†) and Secunia (SA35241†). The entries VDB-48324, VDB-48323 and VDB-48321 are pretty similar. If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
