Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in ATEN KN9116 IP KVM switch 1.1.104. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component Firmware. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cryptographic issue vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-310. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
The ATEN KH1516i IP KVM switch with firmware 1.0.063 and the KN9116 IP KVM switch with firmware 1.1.104 do not (1) encrypt mouse events, which makes it easier for man-in-the-middle attackers to perform mouse operations on machines connected to the switch by injecting network traffic; and do not (2) set the secure flag for the session cookie in an https session, which makes it easier for remote attackers to capture this cookie by intercepting its transmission within an http session.
The weakness was presented 05/27/2009 by Jakob Lell (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2009-1474 since 04/28/2009. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1600 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
