Apple Safari before 4.0 does not properly check for revoked Extended Validation (EV) certificates, which makes it easier for remote attackers to trick a user into accepting an invalid certificate.

The bug was discovered 06/08/2009. The weakness was published 06/08/2009 by Tavis Ormandy (Shadow) with Microsoft Vulnerability Research (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2009-1682 since 05/20/2009. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
