CA ARCserve Backup r12.0 through SP2, r12.5 before SP2, r15 through SP1, and r16 before SP1 on Windows allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (service shutdown) via a crafted network request.

The weakness was disclosed 03/20/2012 by Kevin J. Kotas with CA Technologies as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-1662 since 03/13/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
