A vulnerability was found in F5 FirePass 6.0/6.1.0/7.0.0. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the file my.activation.php3. SQL injection vulnerability in my.activation.php3 in F5 FirePass 6.0.0 through 6.1.0 and 7.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the state parameter.
The weakness was presented 03/14/2012 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.f5.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-1777 since 03/19/2012. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
After 2 weeks, there has been an exploit disclosed. It is declared as highly functional. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 43290 (F5 FirePass SQL Injection Vulnerability).
Applying the patch HF-377712-1 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at support.f5.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
