The ELF file parser in eSafe 7.0.17.0, Rising Antivirus 22.83.00.03, Fortinet Antivirus 4.2.254.0, and Panda Antivirus 10.0.2.7 allows remote attackers to bypass malware detection via an ELF file with a modified padding field. NOTE: this may later be SPLIT into multiple CVEs if additional information is published showing that the error occurred independently in different ELF parser implementations.

The weakness was released 03/19/2012 by Suman Jana and Vitaly Shmatikov as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at seclists.org. The vendor was not involved in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-1439 since 02/29/2012. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

A public exploit has been developed by Suman Jana / Vitaly Shmatikov and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at seclists.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
