The dba_replace function in PHP 5.2.6 and 4.x allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (file truncation) via a key with the NULL byte. NOTE: this might only be a vulnerability in limited circumstances in which the attacker can modify or add database entries but does not have permissions to truncate the file.
The bug was discovered 11/28/2008. The weakness was presented 11/27/2008 by Ryan Sleevi (Website). The advisory is available at securityreason.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-7068 since 08/24/2009. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
