A vulnerability has been found in Wireshark up to 1.6.5 (Packet Analyzer Software) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component 802.11 Dissector. epan/dissectors/packet-ieee80211.c in the IEEE 802.11 dissector in Wireshark 1.6.x before 1.6.6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via a crafted packet.
The weakness was published 03/27/2012 (Website). The advisory is available at wireshark.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-1594 since 03/12/2012. The attack can be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a single authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
