This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Temporary File Printing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. Opera before 11.62 on UNIX uses world-readable permissions for temporary files during printing, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information by reading these files.

The weakness was disclosed 03/27/2012 by Christof Meerwald (Website). The advisory is shared at opera.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-1930 since 03/27/2012. An attack has to be approached locally. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 59631 (GLSA-201206-03 : Opera: Multiple vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Gentoo Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165304 (SUSE Security Update for Opera (openSUSE-SU-2012:0610-1)).

Upgrading to version 11.62 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
