Google Chrome before 18.0.1025.142 does not properly check X.509 certificates before use of a SPDY proxy, which might allow man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof servers or obtain sensitive information via a crafted certificate.
The weakness was shared 03/28/2012 by Christian Holler (scarybeasts) with Google Chrome Security Team as 116398 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at code.google.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2011-3061 since 08/09/2011. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Required for exploitation is a authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
