A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in IBM Cognos TM1 9.4.1 (Business Process Management Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component Admin Server. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in tm1admsd.exe in the Admin Server in IBM Cognos TM1 9.4.x and 9.5.x before 9.5.2 FP2 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via crafted data.
The weakness was shared 04/02/2012 with TippingPoint (Website). The advisory is shared for download at www-01.ibm.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-0202 since 12/14/2011. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
