Joomla! 2.5.x before 2.5.4 does not properly check permissions, which allows attackers to obtain sensitive "administrative back end" information via unknown attack vectors. NOTE: this might be a duplicate of CVE-2012-1599.
The weakness was published 03/27/2012 by Cyrille Barthelemy with Nessus Team (Website). The advisory is shared at developer.joomla.org. The public release has been coordinated with Joomla. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-1611 since 03/12/2012. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
