A vulnerability has been found in Joomla CMS 2.5.0/2.5.1/2.5.2/2.5.3 (Content Management System) and classified as critical. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the update manager in Joomla! 2.5.x before 2.5.4 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was released 04/02/2012 by Alex Andreae (Website). The advisory is available at developer.joomla.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-1612 since 03/12/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
