The weakness was disclosed 10/13/2009 by Thierry Zoller (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-3588. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 42105 (Computer Associates Anti-Virus Engine arclib.dll < 8.1.4.0 Multiple Flaws), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows.
