A vulnerability has been found in HP OpenView Network Node Manager 7.53 (Network Management Software) and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file ovsessionmgr.exe. The manipulation of the argument passwd with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Multiple heap-based buffer overflows in ovsessionmgr.exe in HP OpenView Network Node Manager (OV NNM) 7.01, 7.51, and 7.53 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long (1) userid or (2) passwd parameter to ovlogin.exe.

The weakness was released 12/10/2009 by Aaron Portnoy (TippingPoint) with Zero Day Initiative (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-4176 since 12/03/2009. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/28/2021).

A public exploit has been developed in Python. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
