A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Linux Kernel 2.6.28.2 (Operating System). This issue affects the function ext4_decode_error. The ext4_decode_error function in fs/ext4/super.c in the ext4 filesystem in the Linux kernel before 2.6.32 allows user-assisted remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference), and possibly have unspecified other impact, via a crafted read-only filesystem that lacks a journal.
The issue has been introduced in 12/25/2008. The weakness was released 12/12/2009 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vmware.com.
