Integer overflow in libtheora in Xiph.Org Theora before 1.1, as used in Mozilla Firefox 3.5 before 3.5.6 and SeaMonkey before 2.0.1, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a video with large dimensions.
The weakness was released 12/17/2009 by Dan Kaminsky (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2009-3389 since 09/24/2009. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 71170 (GLSA-201312-04 : libtheora: Arbitrary code execution), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
