A vulnerability has been found in Cisco WebEx 26.00/27.00 (Unified Communication Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality in the library atrpui.dll of the component WRF Player. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Buffer overflow in atrpui.dll in the Cisco WebEx WRF Player 26.x before 26.49.32 for Windows, 27.x before 27.10.x for Windows, 26.x before 26.49.35 for Mac OS X and Linux, and 27.x before 27.11.8 for Mac OS X and Linux allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted WebEx Recording Format (WRF) file.
The weakness was shared 12/16/2009 with Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-2880 since 08/19/2009. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
Upgrading to version 26.00 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
