A vulnerability was found in phpGroupWare 0.9.16.12 (Groupware Software). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file login.php. The manipulation of the argument arbitrary with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-79. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in login.php in phpGroupWare 0.9.16.12, and possibly other versions before 0.9.16.014, allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via an arbitrary parameter whose name begins with the "phpgw_" sequence.
The weakness was presented 07/22/2009 (Website). The advisory is available at kambing.ui.ac.id. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-4416 since 12/24/2009. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 0.9.16.12 eliminates this vulnerability.
