client/mount.cifs.c in mount.cifs in smbfs in Samba 3.4.5 and earlier does not verify that the (1) device name and (2) mountpoint strings are composed of valid characters, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (mtab corruption) via a crafted string.
The weakness was shared 02/04/2010 by Dan Rosenberg (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2010-0547 since 02/04/2010. The exploitability is told to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
