Array index error in vorbis_dec.c in FFmpeg 0.5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted Vorbis file that triggers an out-of-bounds read.

The issue has been introduced in 03/02/2010. The weakness was released 02/09/2010 by Will Dormann (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at roundup.ffmpeg.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2009-4640. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.

The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
