A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Fedorahosted cronie 1.4.3. This affects the function edit_cmd of the file crontab.c. The edit_cmd function in crontab.c in (1) cronie before 1.4.4 and (2) Vixie cron (vixie-cron) allows local users to change the modification times of arbitrary files, and consequently cause a denial of service, via a symlink attack on a temporary file in the /tmp directory.
The weakness was published 02/25/2010 by Dan Rosenberg as Bug 565809 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2010-0424. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
