A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Atlassian JIRA up to 4.1 (Bug Tracking Software). This affects an unknown code of the file groupnames.jsp of the component View Page. The manipulation of the argument afterURL with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The weakness was presented 04/20/2010 (Website). The advisory is shared at jira.atlassian.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2010-1164. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
It is declared as attacked. By approaching the search of inurl:groupnames.jsp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 45578 (Atlassian JIRA 500page.jsp Referer XSS), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
