Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in phpGroupWare (Groupware Software). This affects an unknown code of the file class.sessions_db.inc.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in phpGroupWare (phpgw) before 0.9.16.016 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via unspecified parameters to (1) class.sessions_db.inc.php, (2) class.translation_sql.inc.php, or (3) class.auth_sql.inc.php in phpgwapi/inc/.
The weakness was presented 05/19/2010 with VUPEN Security (Website). The advisory is shared at lists.gnu.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2010-0404 since 01/27/2010. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:class.sessions_db.inc.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 46346 (Debian DSA-2046-1 : phpgroupware - several vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Debian Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 175124 (Debian Security Update for phpGroupWare (DSA-2046)).
