Unspecified vulnerability in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1 and SP2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (hang) via crafted requests to the Help page that cause repeated restarts of the application pool, aka "Sharepoint Help Page Denial of Service Vulnerability."

It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The successful exploitation requires a authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 47579 (Microsoft SharePoint Service Help.aspx 'tid' Parameter DoS), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 90600 (Microsoft SharePoint Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability (MS10-039 and KB983438)).
