Details
A vulnerability classified as very critical has been found in Autonomy Keyview Filter Sdk 10.9. Affected is some unknown functionality in the library qpssr.dll. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Heap-based buffer overflow in an unspecified library in Autonomy KeyView 10.4 and 10.9, as used in multiple IBM, Symantec, and other products, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted compound file, as demonstrated using a Quattro Pro file, which is not properly handled by the Quattro speed reader (qpssr.dll).
The weakness was presented 08/17/2010 by Carsten Eiram with Secunia Research (Website). The advisory is available at symantec.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2010-0126. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/23/2021).
