A vulnerability was found in FreeType (Software Library) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function Mac_Read_POST_Resource. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. Buffer overflow in the Mac_Read_POST_Resource function in base/ftobjs.c in FreeType before 2.4.2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted Adobe Type 1 Mac Font File (aka LWFN) font.
The weakness was published 08/19/2010 by Robert Swiecki (Website). The advisory is available at marc.info. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2010-2808 since 07/22/2010.
