A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox (Web Browser). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown functionality in the library LD_LIBRARY_PATH. A certain application-launch script in Mozilla Firefox before 3.5.14 and 3.6.x before 3.6.11, Thunderbird before 3.0.9 and 3.1.x before 3.1.5, and SeaMonkey before 2.0.9 on Linux places a zero-length directory name in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, which allows local users to gain privileges via a Trojan horse shared library in the current working directory.
The weakness was presented 10/21/2010 as Bug 590753 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2010-3182. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.

Upgrading to version 1.0.9 eliminates this vulnerability.
