Use-after-free vulnerability in WebKit, as used in Google Chrome before 7.0.517.44, webkitgtk before 1.2.6, and other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via vectors involving text editing.
The weakness was released 11/05/2010 by David Bloom (Inferno) with Google Chrome Security Team as Bug 656115 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2010-4197 since 11/05/2010. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 51444 (Fedora 13 : webkitgtk-1.2.6-1.fc13 (2011-0121)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
