A vulnerability has been found in Apache Subversion up to 1.6.4 (Versioning Software) and classified as critical. The walk function in repos.c in the mod_dav_svn module for the Apache HTTP Server, as distributed in Apache Subversion before 1.6.15, allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and daemon crash) via vectors that trigger the walking of SVNParentPath collections.
The weakness was released 01/07/2011 as Bug 667407 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-4539. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation needs a single authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
