Google Chrome before 8.0.552.237 and Chrome OS before 8.0.552.344 do not properly handle SVG use elements, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via unknown vectors that lead to a "stale pointer."
The weakness was presented 01/12/2011 by Sergey Glazunov (SkyLined) with Chromium Development Community (Website). The advisory is shared for download at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-0478. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
