Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in Joomla! 1.5.x before 1.5.22 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) filter_order or (2) filter_order_Dir parameter in a com_contact action to index.php, a different vulnerability than CVE-2010-4166. NOTE: the provenance of this information is unknown; the details are obtained solely from third party information.

The weakness was presented 01/18/2011 (Website). The advisory is available at secunia.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-4696 since 01/18/2011. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

By approaching the search of inurl:index.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12730 (Joomla! Multiple SQL Injection Vulnerabilities).

Upgrading to version 1.5.22 eliminates this vulnerability.
